2016 Nov. 7th

When you have to carry a team as much as Jeremy Lin has to it’s a big load on your back. On November 2nd that load proved too much as Lin fell victim to a pulled hamstring in a game against the Pistons.

All we know is that the injury will be re-evaluated in 2 weeks by team doctors which means he will be out at a minimum 14 days. Prior to the injury Jeremy played played in 5 games averaging 15 ppg, 6.2 apg, 3.1 abpg (ankle breakers per game) in 26.8 MPG. On top of those outstanding stats he racked up a total of 212 signed autographs in the 5 games

Jeremy Lin’s injury makes it a sad week. This news ranks up there among Chipotle E-Coli tragedy and the 2016 US presidential election. We all know someone effected by this injury so please make an extra effort to be considerate. All donations to this blog will go to the victims of Jeremy Lin’s injury.

Stay safe,

A response to a bleacher’s report article

The Bleacher Report took an uncalled for cheap shot at the league’s best point guard with this article (http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2152362-jeremy-lin-must-reinvent-himself-with-la-lakers). I am outraged. i am sickened. Although only sticks and stones can break my bones, these words have indeed hurt me.

The recently written article was titled: “Jeremy Lin Must Reinvent Himself with LA Lakers.”

I disagree. They should change the article to “The LA Lakers must reinvent themselves with Jeremy Lin.”

Last year the Lakers didn’t make the playoffs. Jeremy Lin did. Would you look at that.

Last year the Lakers had 23,500 Asian American Fans. Jeremy Lin had 13,260,000. Go figure.

Last year the Lakers had 12 players score less than 850 points. Jeremy Lin had 890. No kidding.

The Bleacher Report’s article says Jeremy Lin has to become a better “facilitator” with the Lakers. What the Bleacher Report does not know is that when you’re the best player on the court, it is advantageous to your team to have the ball in your hands the majority of the time. Simple mathematics proves this optimizes the team’s scoring production. Someone from the bleacher’s report sideline has to get some new batteries for their calculator. I wouldn’t mind “facilitating” some of my triple A’s.

Yes I would.

That is all for today. Expect a poem to come out sometime this week and remember, “There is no man living that cannot do more than he thinks he can.” – Jeremy Lin

Where would Jeremy Lin be today without James Naismith?

When James Naismith invented basketball in 1891, Jeremy Lin wasn’t even a thought. Jeremy Lin’s parents were not even an idea and Jeremy Lin’s parent’s parent’s had not even met yet. With this thought cemented in your mind, pivot towards the idea of where Jeremy Lin would be today without the great game of basketball.

To do that we have to perform math and work our way backwards. It’s the simple law of reverse Modus Tollens. Here we go…

No basketball means no NBA. No NBA career means no basketball at Harvard. No Basketball at Harvard means no basketball at Palo Alto High School. Now un-reverse  the reverse  Modus Tollens law we preformed and work forwards. No basketball in High School means time for private tutor means 4.0 GPA, means Perfect SAT and ACT scores. That translates to an academic scholarship to MIT. No basketball in college means no fame means no college girlfriend means no distraction means more library hours. Therefore Jeremy Lin would have been MIT’s valedictorian and a 4.0 in Computer Science completing  a masters and PhD in 4 years winning the Rhodes Scholarship all 4 years in school.  From there, anything would be possible. Astronaut, Doctor, Lawyer, Engineer. The sky would have been the limit… would have.

But life is not always fair and sometimes you have to made lemonade with the lemons.

Jeremy Lin wants ‘bigger role’ in Lakers

Great Article! Very insightful!

Asian Athletes Blog

Taipei, July 20 (CNA) Taiwanese American NBA star Jeremy Lin, who was recently traded by the Houston Rockets to the Los Angeles Lakers, said Sunday that he expects to play a larger role on his new team.

Answering fans’ questions at a basketball camp in Taiwan, sponsored by China Airlines, Lin described his trade to the Lakers as “a great opportunity” because he can learn much from his new teammate, Kobe Bryant, four-time NBA All-Star Game Most Valuable Player and a five-time NBA champion.

“I wish my role could become bigger and more important, and I also wish I could get more playing time next year,” said the 25-year-old point guard.

Lin, who is only under contract for one more season, averaged 13.0 points and 5.2 assists in 153 games over the past two seasons with the Rockets. He was moved to the Rockets’ bench last season, after…

Evidence

After receiving hundreds of emails following m y last post, I need to provide some hard evidence to support my claim as to why Jeremy Lin is the best point guard in the league.

1. LinsaniDeeefense is not a bad defender which makes him the best defender in the NBA.

2. Hustle-Lin is a slasher who can dish, swish or finish.

3. The Harvard Hurricane is the smartest player in the NBA.

4. Linception knows what your going to do before you even wake up in the morning.

5. Linvincible went undrafted who but went 14.6 ppg with the New York Knicks.

Jeremy Lin: The best point guard in the league

If you google “The best point guard in the NBA” a bleachers report list is the first link that shows up. I was intrigued to see where Lin appeared up on this list so I opened it. As I started at 40 and slowly clicked one by one down to the #1 point guard in the league, I started getting my hopes up. He wasn’t between 40 and 30. Then between 30 and 20 I didn’t see him. Surely he had to be a top 10 PG. One by one I scrolled all the way down to #2. Slowly, I clicked to see who was number 1. it was Chris Paul. Not Jeremy Lin.

I stared at my computer screen. For about 2 whole minutes. Then….I laughed. That bleachers report article was more funny than any Onion article I’ve ever read.

Inside Jeremy Lin

Jeremy Lin was born in Los Angeles and grew up nearby in Palo Alto, California. Lin Gie-Ming his father and Shirley Lin his mother were both born in Taiwan, China but moved to the United States in the 1970’s to attend American universities.

Lin started basketball at the national junior basketball program his mother set up as a young boy. When he entered high school, he went on to become one of the best players in his high school’s history. He ended his senior year averaging 15.1 points a game, 7.1 assists, 6.2 rebounds and 5.0 steals. He was California division II player of the year his senior year.

In college at Harvard, he ended his career with 12.9 points a game in 115 games but more importantly proved to be a big game player in tight situations. Weather due to his ethnicity or physique, Jeremy went undrafted in the 2010 NBA draft.

Then on July 21st, 2010 Lin came to an agreement with the golden state warriors and signed a two year deal with tem. He was garenteed close to $500,000 his first year and half of that his second. Lin and his agent, Roger Montgomery, came to a 3 year agreement with Nike.

After one year with the Warriors seeing limited playing time, Jeremy was claimed off waivers by the New York Knicks. He had no significant impact for the team until Feburary 4th when Jeremy Lin came into a game against the nets in “garbage time” of a game. His immediate impact on the game was able to swing the Knicks back on their feet and they ended up winning. He ended that game with 25 points and 7 rebounds. He kept displaying incredible talent and aggressive on the court. His spark helped the Knicks to a 9-3 record and in his 12 starts before the All-Star break, Lin averaged 22.5 points and 8.7 assists the most of anyone in their first starts as a starter. During the 2012 off-season, Jeremy Lin was offered a 28.8 million dollar contact with the Huston Rockets which was not matched by New York. This resulted in leaving New York and playing alongside super star James Harden and Dwight Howard. The Rockets found some success in the two seasons making the playoffs in both years but being eliminated in the first round both years. Lin went on to Average 11.9 points a game over the 2 years and 200+ games.

On July 13, 2014, Lin was traded, along with a 2015 first and second round pick, to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for the rights to Sergei Lishouk.

OFFICIAL: Lin to LA Lakers!

And you thought Wiz was talking about the Steelers in his “Black and Yellow” solo. In case you live under a rock, don’t watch TV, read the paper or have internet, and you haven’t heard about it, over the weekend news came out the JEREMY LIN WILL BE TEAMING UP WITH THE BLACK MAMBA AND THE LOS ANGELES LAKERS.

With Lebron James leaving Dwayne Wade in Miami, some are calling this team up in the west the the best dynamic duo in the league. Faster than Jeremy Lin and more instant than Foldgers the LA Lakers became favorites for the title this upcoming season literally overnight.

After a Skype session with Lin’s agent, Roger Montgomery, he had this to say: “I think Jeremy is excited and thrilled about the opportunity, it’s been a lot of speculation about, ‘Is he going to stay? Is he going to leave?’ And I think landing in Los Angeles is a really cool opportunity for him for a number of reasons.”

One reason we can conclude is that Jeremy was born in Los Angeles and figures to be popular with the region’s large Asian community. This will not only attract and flood millions of dollars into LA’s economy, but will attract the Fans who Used to Root for the Miami Heat Until Lebron Left. Or FURMHULL as I like to call them. There will be an approximate 3.1 Million FURMHULL’s this season without any team to root for and hopefully with the movement of Jeremy Lin, the Lakers can capture a majority of them.

Now that the Lakers have landed Lin, the connect the dots game begins with the team’s idiosyncratic roster. As of right now, The Lakers have the 40 year old vet Steve “flashy” Nashy, Jordan “rookie cookie” Clarkson, Kendall “Impartial” Marshall and of course Jeremy Lin at the PG position. This roster requires some sort of resolution by coaching staff prior to the start of the season. If this was career mode NBA 2k14 on XBOX 360 and I was the coach, I’d have Jlin at the 1, Marshall at the 2, Black Mamba at 3, the first round pick Julius Randle Jordan Hill in the front court. This creates a very versatile lineup that will cause many match up issue for opposing teams. Although not the ’97 Bulls, this starting 5, if healthy, has the potential to become the crème de la crème team of the league. Jeremy Lin coming off a pick and kicking to Kobe for a 3. Jeremy Lin breaking the defender’s legs and ‘ooping’ it to Hill for the jam. Jeremy Lin step back mid range jumper off the back board. Jeremy Lin coast to coast slam. Jeremy Lin half court buzzer beater for the win. You will be hearing these phrases  a lot throughout the season.

The preseason is still young and there is still a lot to happen between now and October 29th when the Lakers take on Clippers. With the crazy off season so only two things are guaranteed. Jeremy Lin will play for the Lakers and the Lakers will play in Los Angeles. JLinLin will keep you posted on all the news coming out of LA between now and then.
